Unknown Number: How To Dig Through the Details and Find It

We all get calls from unknown numbers all of the time.  They may leave a message or none at all.   Curiosity makes us want to know more about these unknown callers.  Or even more, you may want to be able to post a complaint about them or find out what others have experienced.

Don't answer the phone call:  If you don't recognize the phone number or it says private, out of state, unknown.  Always let the caller leave a message because they will if its important enough. 

If you Answer the Phone:  Don't feel bad to actually answer the phone and and see who it is.  It may be very well a person you know. If you hear no sound, then a click, then its probably a telemarketer -- find out who it is, then ask them to take your phone off their call list

Use an Online Directory to Find the Number:  Not all online directories are created equal.  Some are updated on the rare occasion and have outdated data, while others are created by and updated by users.  These "crowd sourcing" databases actually not only allow you to lookup a number but also share your experience with others anonymously.  The best way how to find an unknown phone number the easy way is to use a free reverse phone directory.
