Who hasn't been called by a telemarketer or other unwanted caller before. Many of us get these calls regularly, without warning, without our permission, without our desire. Sadly, many of these callers find our numbers through unscrupulous means. They call from 866 numbers and other numbers to bother you.
Many of these vendors try to hawk things that may be perceived as the old snake oil, or swampland in Florida. Something really worth nothing. Trying to prey on the unknowing.
Register your Name : Ensure you register your name and phone numbers at the FCC's do not call list. This list is provided to all telemarketing companies and they are required to remove your name from their list almost immediately so they don't bother you any more.
Don't Sign up For Stuff: You know those sweepstakes and those raffles in the middle of the mall to win a car? Don't do them. These companies have the small print that allows them to call you and try to sell you things. If you don't sign up with your name and phone number, they can't bother you. Realize you'll likely never win the things anyways.
Free Revere Phone Directory: Use a free reverse phone directory to lookup and find the telemarketers if they do call you. Also use these services to post a complaint against the caller.
