We all get calls from an unknown number.  They call you incessantly or maybe just once.  They may leave a message or none at all.   Are they a telemarketer, harassing caller, or just a wrong number? Its both curiosity and a need for privacy to know who is calling from an unknown number.

Here are three key ways to determine how to find an unknown number.

Don't answer the phone: If you don't recognize the phone number or it says private, out of state, uknown.  Just let the caller leave a message.  If its important enough the caller will leave one.  This way you can easily figure out who is calling you.  Then to make it easier next time, program that number into your phone with the caller's real name.  But sometimes the caller doesn't leave a message, this makes it a little more difficult to find but not impossible.

If you Answer the Phone:  If you're brave enough, answer the phone and see who it is.  It may be very well a person you know. If you hear no sound, then a click, then its probably a telemarketer -- find out who it is, then ask them to take your phone off their call list

Use an Online Directory to Find the Number:  Not all online directories are created equal.  Some are updated on the rare occasion and have outdated data, while others are created by and updated by users.  These "crowd sourcing" databases actually not only allow you to lookup a number but also share your experience with others anonymously.

How to find unknown number the easy way is to use a free reverse phone directory.  This is our preference.
