Have unwanted calls on your cellphone been on the increase? Are you concerned about your privacy being violated? Follow these easy steps to decrease harassing calls on your cell phone.
Avoid Giving your Cell Phone Number to Anyone
I cant tell you how many opportunities there are to give out your cell phone today, especially if you use your cell phone as your main phone -- ie you don't have a home phone number. I was at Circuit City today and they asked me for my number to track my purchases. I politely decline to ever give out my phone number unless its absolutely required. I also ask to opt out of any marketing communications from day-one.
Even though the FTC says there's no need to place your cell phone number on the do not call list, you neve know when a telemarketer may get it. As a safe measure, you can place it on their list and within 31 days all telemarketers must comply with not calling the phone number you entered on the list.
Find Out Who is Calling You and File a Complaint
Many times when you get telemarketer calls on your cell phone, it doesn't list who is actually calling. It will only list the calling phone number. Most people will answer the call, I never do. There are a few websites out there that allow you to lookup the phone number and file a complaint. This both allows you to find out who is really calling you and helps warn others of these unscrupulous companies
