We've all had calls from unknown numbers. Usually it says "unknown" or "private" but lists the phone number. This article will show you how to deal with unknown numbers.
Don't Answer the Phone
How many times have you received a phone call during dinner or other important event from a toll-free number or other number, and your caller-id doesn't show who is calling? The answer is probably many times. The best way to deal with these types of calls is to not answer and just let them leave a message. If the call is important enough they'll leave one.
Look Them up Online
Everyone's curious as to who calls them. If you're still not sure who they are after they've left a message or even if they didn't, and you're curious who they are, you can look them up online. There are many directories where users can search for a name, business, or business category, but its a little more difficult to find a way to reverse lookup a phone number. Once you've found one then you can lookup the caller. The only difficulty here is that many numbers are unlisted.
One of these directories is CallCatalog.com
My preference is to use a user-generated reverse lookup directory since it doesn't go through the normal channels. Many of these reverse lookup directories also allow you to share your call experience and warn others about who these callers are and what they want.
